Product Care

ECOYA uses soy wax...

as opposed to Paraffin, which most other candle brands use. Paraffin is made from a by-product of petrol and is toxic and therefore, bad for you and your environment. Soy wax burns cleaner and cooler than Paraffin wax. (You only have to look at the soot inside the glass of a Paraffin candle to see how much cleaner!)

We work with a master perfumer?...

and did you know there are more astronauts in the world than there are Master Perfumers? Isaac Sinclair, The Nose of ECOYA, creates all of the ECOYA fragrances

1 When you first burn your ECOYA candle, burn it until the wax pool reaches the edge of the glass (in fact, where you can, always burn your candle until the wax pool reaches the edge of the glass).  This will ensure your candle always burns flat and you get the most from your candle, avoiding the wax forming into a funnel in the centre.
2 Always, ALWAYS trim your wick. Every time you light your ECOYA candle. This ensures the wick doesn’t ‘mushroom’ and smoke
3 Discontinue burning when you have 1cm or less in your ECOYA candle.
4 Always place your ECOYA candle on a heat resistant surface.
5 Do not leave your ECOYA candle unattended and keep away from children, curtains and pets.
6 Do not burn your candle for more than 3 hours at a time.  Blow it out, trim the wick and then re-light once the candle has cooled.
7 If you are burning more than one candle in the same room, ensure you leave at least 10cm between both burning candles.
8 If your glass has got soot around the edge (because you haven’t been trimming your wick – tut tut), use a paper towel to gently wipe it off. Your candle will look as good as new.
Have you got guests coming over?
Try burning a neutral and comforting fragrance in your living space, like French Pear, as they are not invasive and give your guests the feeling of being welcomed and at ease.
A candle flame needs oxygen to 'breathe'.
Keep this in mind if you burn candles in a small, enclosed room.  Perhaps try a soy melt or reed diffuser in a smaller space.

1 Keep your reed diffuser away from drafts (doorways, windows, aircon).  This will ensure your reed diffuser reaches its full life expectancy!
2 There is no need to turn the reeds in your diffuser. The natural reeds will absorb the oil and fill your room with a long lasting fragrance, so there is no need to turn your reeds.
A tip from our Master Perfumer & Nose of ECOYA, Isaac Sinclair...

Should you stick to one scent when you have different candles round the house, or can you mix it up?

“I would definitely recommend varying the scents throughout your house in order to create different moods for each space. A fragrance which is vibrant and clean will be great in the kitchen but may not have the desired effect in your lounge.”
